We realise that your dog is a much-loved part of your family, as is The Old Cheesehouse a much-loved part of ours.
With that in mind, and along with that fact that future guests may have allergies, please would you be kind enough to observe these guidelines throughout your holiday:
Please watch your dog in the garden to avoid any escape.
Please keep your dog under control, there are many other dogs and walkers around.
Make sure your dog has an identification tag with your mobile number on.
Please pick up dog mess using poo bags and dispose of these (sealed properly) into the black wheelie bin in the open fronted building opposite.
Please wipe and/or vacuum after your dog if necessary.
Please help us protect our furniture by encouraging your dog to remain off all seating and beds. Muddy paw prints and pet hair on these items will incur charges, as we will not be able to use them for future guests who may be allergic.
Please do not permit your pets into any of the rooms that are carpeted.
Please ensure that you bring all of your pet’s water and food bowls, to avoid using items from the kitchen.
Please bring plenty of throws, blankets and baskets so that your dog feels cosy and at home. Throws are also useful if your dog is used to rubbing up against furniture. There are some extra doggy towels in the wicker basket in the kitchen if you need them (leave used towels hanging on the railings outside or inside the front porch).
If your dog is muddy or sandy from their walk, please rinse them off outside using the tap in the parking area by the oil tank (please turn it off tightly when you have finished) and towel dry keeping your dog in the kitchen/utility area until clean and dry.
It may be sensible to walk the dog around the back into the garden and use the kitchen doors. Muddy splash marks from shaking dogs takes time to clean and may incur an extra cleaning charge.
During certain months there are restrictions to dogs on the beaches.
As a rule, the restricted months are normally May to October.
Please check the information on the following link for specific beaches:
· Take care walking cliff footpaths, there are no barriers, and many dogs have chased rabbits over the edge.
Be aware that there are often landslides from the cliffs - Never walk underneath the cliffs, and stay well away from the edge when walking over them. Adhere to any signage that will be there for your safety.
· The local countryside is filled wildlife and livestock that must not be chased or frightened. It is a criminal offence for dogs to ‘worry’ livestock.
We have our own small herd of Dexter cattle that are all in calf, due in the summer of 2024 - please do not allow your dogs to frighten them, we would all be devastated tif anything happened to them.
